Doing The Delamar

Lovely Living

One of the winners (in two categories, no less!) at last night’s Innovation in Design Awards hosted by Connecticut Cottages & Gardens was our client, Sage Design.  Needless to say, we’re thrilled for Kathy since we’ve gotten to know her over the past couple of months and love her taste (read our post here.)

Succulent Seating

We’re even more excited to have visited Kathy’s website recently and found new images of the suites she designed for the Delamar Hotel in Southport.  Some of the pictures included the Diane James Home florals she borrowed for the photo shoot.  The Delamar liked what we did so much, the general manager bought two designs!

Blue Hues

Being at the right place, at the right time may not be the most successful business strategy to follow but it has certainly worked for us and for Kathy.  In fact, she was asked to design the two suites at the Delamar when the owner, Charles Mallory, saw a model residence Kathy created for Southport Green.  Don’t you just love serendipity?!

… to Cottages & Gardens for hosting the 5th annual Innovation in Design Awards (the IDA’s for those in the know!) on Tuesday.  Held at the Stamford Hilton in their Garden Pavilion, we dined under the stars (under a tent, at tables decorated with DuraLee fabric runners and Diane James flowers) amongst design stars and these little bees even had the honor of meeting Bunny Williams, Anthony Baratta, Philip Gorrivan and Matthew Patrick Smyth.

Needless to say, while the winners of each of the five categories (landscape, kitchen, bath, architecture and interior design) left with gorgeous Juliska trophies in hand, we left with stars in our eyes!

The 2010 Innovation in Design Winners

ctcg

We’re back from a lovely evening at the Stamford Hilton where we mixed and mingled with divine designers under the boughs of Japanese maples in beautiful architectural planters.  One of the many highlights of the evening was meeting the fabulous Jamie Drake (he even complimented us on choosing the perfect bouquets to coordinate with his Schumacher table runners – swoon!) and seeing the gorgeous work of all the nominees.  While Connecticut Cottages & Gardens will be publishing party pictures very soon, we didn’t want to keep you waiting – so here are the 2010 IDA winners!

Extra, Extra – Read All About The IDA’s

With so many talented designers and architects creating beautiful environments here in Connecticut and in nearby Westchester, it’s no surprise that we all look forward to THE local design event of the year – The Innovation in Design Awards hosted by Cottages & Gardens Publications in the Garden Pavilion at The Stamford Hilton on May 25, 2010.

Needless to say, we were thrilled when our friends at CTC&G asked us if we would be willing to create centerpieces for and attend this year’s dinner; who wouldn’t want to mix and mingle with the best of the best, including world-renowned design innovator and honoree Jamie Drake?

The tables will be dressed with Temple Garden in Appletini (don’t you love that color?), a pattern Jamie designed for Schumacher so we thought pink and cream peonies, lilies, hydrangeas and orchids would add the right pop of spring.
