Loving Lilly for Target

Porcelain Plates

Porcelain Plates

Just in time for spring entertaining on the terrace (that is, whenever spring decides to actually get here!), Target is launching its latest designer collaboration with the iconic Lilly Pulitzer no less.  While we can’t imagine mobs of preppy girls camping out at their local Target store ready to shop when the doors open on April 19th, we know this collection will hit the bulls’ eye so to speak.

Sporting 15 brand new and exclusive prints designed in-house at Lilly, the line will feature 250 items including jewelry, clothing, shoes, accessories, and home decor.  Best of all, prices will range from $2 to $150 with almost 200 designs under $30.

Lilly’s boldly bright and playful style has been a favorite for jet setters the world over (from Jackie O. to J. Lo) and now it will have a much broader audience with Target’s reach.  Picnics and BBQ’s across the country will be a bit more fun and festive with these stylish finds!

Hunters and Gatherers

Summer Sales

When you see a tag sale sign by the side of the road, do you pull over in hopes to find treasure among the trash?  To be honest, we’re not tag sale people per se but you could talk us into shopping on Hunters Alley, the newest addition to the One Kings Lane family billed as a curated, peer-to-peer marketplace.

Chief Hunteress – Alison Pincus

A combination of 1stdibs, eBay, craigslist and Etsy, Hunters Alley was created by OKL founder Alison Pincus as a platform for vetted tastemakers to sell “almost new and lovingly used” home decor.  All you need to do is set up an account to sell your treasures and with their concierge service, they’ll do the rest.  And for buyers, gone are the days of dumpster diving – this site takes hunting and gathering to a whole new level!

Pacific Heights Pad – Celine Z.

San Francisco Victorian – Peggy M.

This online find is still in beta mode so alas, we couldn’t shop for our new living room but we did enjoy reading the seller profiles and getting a glimpse of their own chic homes.  Rumor has it Hunters Alley will go live by the end of the month, just in time for us to sell the last remaining pieces of our former, more traditional decor.  French pleat curtains, anyone?  How about a collection of crystal decanters?

Are you a hunter and gatherer?  If so, what are your favorite online sources for vintage home decor?

P.S.  Another great site we’ve just discovered is Joy & Revelry where we just picked up these mid-century bookends!

Sunny Days Are Here Again!

Three sunny days in a row and counting…  We haven’t had a streak like this since the first week of February and spring fever has set in!  We’re buzzing around and humming all the sunny songs we know: Here Comes The Sun, It’s A Sunshine Day, Walking on Sunshine and of course, one of our favorites, Sunshine…

Hermes’ New Home

Plan de Paris

Plan de Paris

If you happened to have been in Paris last week for Maison & Objet, we hope you had a chance to stop by Hermes‘ new home on Rue de Sevres.  Created from a space that was once the Lutetia hotel’s indoor swimming pool, the store’s most striking feature (besides the original tile mosaics that line the walls and floors) are the three 20′ tall “huts” made of latticed ashwood.

“I had a moment of vertigo when I first visited,” Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Hermes’ artistic director, explained.  “I asked myself, how can we turn this into a warm and protective space?”

While we would spend hours browsing the gorgeous fashionable accessories Hermes has to offer, we certainly wouldn’t want to miss the company’s new focus on interior decor – fabrics, wallpaper, carpets and Jean-Michel Frank numbered furniture re-editions.

And of course, no fabulous Parisian boutique would be without a signature cafe (Le Plongeoir is a tea bar) and flower shop (Baptiste).

So for those of you who are fortunate enough to be heading to Paris this spring (like our friend, Lisa, from Hamptontoes!), you’ll have to add this sumptuous store on your “must visit” list.

Haute Couture for the Home

It’s been a decade (or almost three!) since we packed up all of our belongings for college and in the mix was brand new Ralph Lauren bedding.  Back then, we thought it was so cool to have sheets bearing the name of a fabulous fashion designer.
