Who would you trust to update your historical (and very impressive!) Tudor mansion?  Cindy Rinfret, iconic interior designer and doyenne of Classic Greenwich Style, would certainly be on our short list, and we were on hers when it came to fabulous faux flowers.

Rumored to have been built in 1916 by one of the most influential patrons of the American arts, banker Otto Kahn, for his mistress, the house sits on a peninsula with views of Long Island Sound.  It’s now home to a family with young children, so while grand in stature, the house retains a graceful comfort that is so much a part of the Rinfret Ltd. style.

Cindy’s interiors reflect a standard of beauty and luxury and emphasize a life well lived with furnishings that are meant to be lasting and appropriate.  We love the fact that her design philosophy can be summed up in one simple statement:  “Your home should be like your favorite outfit – comfortable, yet luxurious, like the perfect cashmere sweater with your most comfortable and understated, yet elegant jeans.”

The cultured and cosmopolitan Kahn would have approved of Cindy’s work given that he surrounded himself with sophisticated beauty yet still remained down-to-earth.  A champion of the civic virtues of art, Kahn once told a New York City mayor that a piano in every apartment would do more to prevent crime than a policeman on every corner!

Needless to say, we were thrilled to work with the Rinfret design team on this project and loved being a part of this historical home’s future.
