Putting the finishing touches on a renovation project is no easy feat, especially when we started from scratch in three of the rooms. We got rid of a lot of inherited furniture and accessories and now have a clean slate to work with. The larger furniture pieces were a breeze to choose but the finishing touches prove to be a bit more of a challenge.
For instance, how would you style a coffee table? Do you pile it up with beautiful books and call it a day. Or do you accessorize your table with unique objects found during escapades abroad or on foraging trips to flea markets (you know how we feel about those!)?
The key is striking the right balance. Too many accessories and there’s no place for a drink; too little and the space looks neglected. Fortunately, we’ve been pinning coffee tables like mad, and have found some finishing touches we think might work in our new living room.
And of course, we’ll have flowers… If you have any ideas, we’d love to hear them!

Have to get that book! I love working with a clean slate…such a good feeling to start anew. And yes flowers are ALWAYS a good idea. I do love books on the table though it takes up room for when you serve…..enjoy your day!
I went through the same thing when we finally found our great room coffee table after four years of living in our house! I’m a sucker for books, so they take most of the space, but I’ve topped them with little objects of curiosity. There’s a pretty candle in a vintage dish in the center, and when I can get to it, flowers to add a little height. Since this is a casual spot and where we watch TV, the remotes often rest on the table top, too, which bugs me – still looking for the perfect spot to hide them! Have fun with the coffee table styling! XO
I like displaying my design books, and I might also add a pretty container, bowl, or maybe a small picture. Something fresh and green is nice:) too. The perfect coffee table display isn’t as easy to create as one might think and I’m forever changing things up. Thanks for the inspiration above!

I am crazy for the zhush coasters! love them! but I am still in search of the right table for my space. I need a bench width one, but the ones I have seen are all either too much or too industrial for my traditional space. I’m still on the hunt for one that’s just right!
I am absolutely crazy about those eggplant coasters! They would be the perfect addition to my living room and would add perfectly to my look. Does anyone know how durable they are? $137 is a hefty price if my wild children were to use them as frisbees!
