Simple Sugared Roses
Day four without power thanks to Irene and still no update as to when we might “see the light.” Needless to say, with a house full of boys, things may be getting a bit stinky around here. That’s why we thought this recent article from Vogue Living’s blog was such a breath of fresh air.

Step 1: Pluck Petals from Roses
Eric Wolfinger‘s photography brings these sugared rose petals to life and the easy step by step recipe (a favorite of Alice Water’s) may just be the thing to entertain the kids…

Step 2: Carefully Paint with Egg Whites
After all, it’s in times like these that we need to be grateful for what we have and to stop and smell the roses!

Step 3: Cover with Fine Sugar

Step 4: Dry on a Rack

Step 5: Decorate a Favorite Cupcake!
