Giveaway: Gardens at First Light

One of our favorite parts of the day is early morning when the sun is rising over the ridge, the peepers are still peeping in the pond across the street and all is calm.  On warmer days, you will find us outside on our terrace or porch with our cups of coffee enjoying the glow that is cast on our gardens at first light.  That is one of the reasons why we were so thrilled to be contacted by the lovely and celebrated photographer, Stacy Bass, to profile her new book, Gardens at First Light, on our blog and to offer it as a giveaway to one lucky reader!  We are such huge fans of Stacy’s (read about her in a post here) and her work is truly inspiring.

The second reason we were so excited is that the enchanting photographs are accompanied by text from well-known home and garden journalist Judy Ostrow, who not only is one of our neighbors but shares a birthday with us (we could be triplets!)  Stacy’s second book is filled with over 200 images that offer a rare and privileged glimpse into dozens of private gardens in the Northeast.  The only way you would be able to see these gardens at dawn is as guest of the homeowner!

Best of all, Gardens at First Light also contains an illustrated reference guide for the featured gardens should you wish to put your green thumbs to work.  Given our talent for killing live plants, we’ll settle with admiring the beauty of blooming rolling hills and the serene symmetry of box hedges instead.
