Masculine, Not Macho
When we toured the Designer Showhouse of Westchester in 2009 (read about it here), we fell in love with a room that was designed for a teenage boy. Given that we are mothers of boys, we were impressed by the how play of color and texture gave this room a masculine feel without being too macho. We made sure to note the designer’s name: Lara Michelle.

We Spy a Juju on the Wall!
Needless to say, when we met Lara at the showhouse this year, we loved how she can also design a distinctively female environment and her master sitting room did not disappoint!

Lovely Lara Michelle

Lounging and Reading

Primping with Pink
As a child, Lara always preffered crayons and paints to dolls or toys and developed her passion for design at Cornell, NYU Tisch School of the Arts and The New York School of Interior Design. Before launching her own firm in 1995, Lara apprenticed as a design assistant to many of New York’s top designers including Victoria Hagan, Penny Drue Baird and Marjorie Shushan.

Sugar and Spice
If you do get to see Nirvana, stop by and see Lara’s work – she might inspire you to create a little haven for yourself inyour own home! And if you need a local designer, you know who to call…

Love the pink primpie touches! Can’t wait to see it all in person!
I like these spaces a lot! They look like real homes with style, not over-stylized showpieces.
Carolyn I adore the color palette. That wonderful reading nook and the chaise are so inviting!

Great spaces! Especially primping with pink (I usually pimp pink in posts:)
I’m with her–as a kid, I preferred to draw and color over playing with dolls!!
