Leaf It Be

Summer Greens

Sunny days have us planning a number of outdoor parties this month and we’re seriously digging the tropical leaves that are all over Instagram!  The above image from Terrain got us collecting vintage bottles and seeing if we can keep monstera and palm fronds alive.

Monstera Leaf Place Mat

Paper place mats like these monstera leaves add the perfect tropical touch and they’re disposable making clean up easy peasy.

Tropical Leaves Napkins

Popping Up at Presenteur in Miami!

Presenting Presenteur

Despite her best efforts and a “bomb cyclone” (i.e. a monster snow storm), Mother Nature won’t keep us from traveling down to Miami today to meet with Presenteur and see their new lifestyle pop-up store at Brickell City Center’s Saks Fifth Avenue.  We’re so excited to be part of this new adventure in retail and can’t wait to see our designs and some of our favorite gifts in the store.

Gorgeous Glass

and Pepa & Co, a London based children clothing company, each brand has a unique story and we’re ready to tell ours!

Charming Children’s Wear

Friday Favorite: Hey.Luisa

Squirrel + Flowers

Dreamlike, thought-provoking, magical, wow…  These are some of the words that came to mind when we stumbled upon Luisa Azevedo‘s work on Instagram and we’ve been mesmerized ever since.  This young and talented teen (yes, she’s the same age as our older boys – 19!) has captured our hearts with her imaginary world of flora and fauna.  A native of Portugal, Luisa sets her subjects in the landscapes she loves most – the ocean and the hills of her country – and her photography allows us to escape, even for just a minute.  Luisa is currently studying at the University of Lisbon where she’s majoring in Multimedia Art and applying the Photoshop skills she learned through Youtube.  But enough words, how about some more images?

Market Loft at Bergdorf Goodman

Hand Tied Bouquet

We received a lot of Insta-love for this picture of a hand tied bouquet we created for Bergdorf Goodman last month so we thought you’d enjoy some pictures of the newly launched Market Loft on the 7th Floor.  With dappled light pouring through the tiered bamboo ceilings and eclectic carpets lining the path under foot, this space has taken a decidedly exotic feel.

Market Loft Stalls

Our Flowers

Mannequins in festive dresses carry armfuls of flowers while their Vespas are precariously piled high with baskets.  Shelves ladened with pottery by Amanda Moffat, ceramics by Astier de Villatte, vases by Elyse Graham and Mariage Freres teas sit under custom awnings.    Our hand tied bouquets spill out wooden buckets adding to the floor’s charm as street music swims in and around the stalls.

Chic Lady on a Vespa

To Market, To Market

These pictures don’t do the floor justice so if you’re in New York, stop by Bergdorfs and travel to a faraway place, even for a couple of minutes.

Balancing Act

P.S.  Speaking of travel, we’re taking a little break to spend some time with the younger boys visiting colleges – in the States and abroad!  See you back here in 10 days.

Lofty Looks

Brooklyn Living

If we had to relive our young adult lives again, we would have bypassed New York’s Upper East Side and made a beeline to DUMBO (District Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass), a historic neighborhood of Brooklyn that has become one of the city’s premier arts districts and a center for what is cool and stylish.  But back then, it was definitely not what it is now.  Yes, there were struggling artists painting in converted lofts (one of our fathers-in law was one of them!)  but that was about it.  These days, the neighborhood is home to the likes of West Elm, Jacques Torres’ chocolate factory and warehouses turned into high-end condos.

Pearl Street Posy

The DUMBO

These Brooklyn lofts have a style of their own, one that moves away from the sleek minimal vibe of Manhattan and more toward the layered, lush looks of a life built for comfort and functionality.

Artful Alliums

Our new Lofty Looks collection for Spring/Summer 2017 is designed to elevate a space to the next level of texture and depth.  They are modern, yet approachable, with a distinct metropolitan feel.

Pink Lady

Crisp white flowers soften a geometric ceramic vase while maidenhair fern and orchid blossoms add a touch of whimsy to succulents planted in a concrete vessel. These style-forward designs will fuel your creativity and enhance your interiors, whether you’re an urban dweller or happily ensconced in the suburbs.

Sassy Grass

P.S.  We’re at the International Gift & Home Furnishings Show in Atlanta through Monday so please stop by and visit – High Design, Building 2, Floor 1, Booth #308.  Or visit Diane James Home in March to shop the new collection!

Untamed Nature

A Bloomsbury Interior

Often called the English avant-garde of their era, Bloomsbury artists and designers believed that fine art should inhabit everyday spaces and that the same attention to detail should be lavished on the design of simple decorative objects like pillows or lamps as had been bestowed on the design creation of a painting or sculpture.

The Bloomsbury Bouquet

Simple Gifts

Our new Spring/Summer 2017 collection, Untamed Nature, is inspired by this belief as well as by the free flowing forms and geometric patterns that were embraced by the movement.

Lilac Love

The Can Can

The Bloomsbury artists thrived on bright colors so we’ve paired vivid garden flowers like anemones, hydrangeas, peonies and lilacs with monochromatic ceramic and glass vases for bouquets that are a delight to the eye.

Bohemian Beauty

If you’re in Atlanta this week, please stop by and see these lovelies in person at the AmericasMart in High Design, Building 2, Floor 1, Booth #308!

Oh, Jackie!

Natalie as Jackie

Natalie as Jackie

Hollywood is abuzz this week about Natalie Portman’s portrayal of Jackie Kennedy in the new biopic hitting theaters in December.  The official trailer was released on Wednesday and it’s haunting atmosphere is goosebump worthy.  With rave reviews from critics who saw the movie at the Venice Film Festival last month, some are saying that Natalie’s performance is Oscar-worthy.

Like many of you, we have a special place in our hearts when it comes to Jackie.  Not only does our mother look like her (and we’re often reminded of this!) but one of us actually worked as Jackie’s intern one summer at Doubleday.  As a rising college sophomore, there wasn’t much to do at this famous publishing house except read a lot of manuscripts and proofread galleys.  And, of course, help Jackie with finalizing the plans for Caroline’s wedding which was held that July.

It was a summer to remember and Jackie was a wonderful, and glamorous, boss.  Her quick wit and incredible work ethic made assisting her a true pleasure, and she was adored by the authors she edited.  It’s no surprise she ended up first at Viking, then at Doubleday, given her passion for books and she published so many well regarded works during her 20 year career.

Needless to say, we can’t wait to see Natalie’s Jackie and compare her to the “real deal”!

Keeping Calm!

Yes!

Yes!

Please forgive the lack of blog posts…  We’re spending the next ten days packing up our boys and dropping them off at college (whether they’re ready or not!)  In the words of Ann Landers, “It’s not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings.”  We just hope we’ve taught them enough…
