“But what you don’t know is that that sweater is not just blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s actually cerulean.  You’re also blindly unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns.” ~ Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada

We’re feeling quite blue with the passing of an incredible style icon, a designer often described as the “sultan of suave”, an avid gardener, and a lover of all that is feminine and pretty.  Oscar de la Renta was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word and he created clothes that made women look and feel beautiful.  His native Dominican sun shown through in his work which was always filled with light, color and luminosity…  and the Caribbean waters were captured in his love of something blue.

Hard to believe he is gone. Such a beautiful legacy he leaves, and a wonderful example of how to live – with elegance, joy, graciousness, manners, and love. The world needs more people like this. XOXO

What an icon! The world is a little less classy without Oscar in it. Hugs to you both!

I love that quote and can see the scene in my mind! What a beautiful tribute to ODLR. I can’t believe he’s gone. That definitely leaves me feeling blue.
