One of the best parts of showing our collections in High Design at the Atlanta Gift Show is discovering new (or at least new to us!) vendors and products. Though we were stuck in our booth most of the time, we did walk past the Luxe part of the show on a daily basis and got to know the lovely owner of Pyar & Co., Paula Queen. Paula launched her company in 2011 after being inspired by the luxurious textures and stunning patterns of the colorful saris she encountered on a post wedding trip to India with her husband, Sumit.
While there, she marveled at the craftsmanship of these age-old designs and wanted to capture the sophisticated femininity in a collection of pillows suited for today’s modern decor. What makes these hand-crafted pillows so original is the portfolio of more than 1,400 exquisite Indian woven silks, jacquards and velvets and that they are made by members of Paula’s extended family. Whether embellished with beads individually selected from markets or hand-embroidered with sparkly sequins and hand-dyed metal studs, Paula’s pretty pillows are truly fit for a queen…
Can you say “Paula picked a peck of pretty pillows” ten times fast?
P.S. Not only are her designs seriously beautiful, but Paula is adorable and we’re so lucky to be booth neighbors with her at NY NOW staring February 1st! If you come to the show, we’ll introduce you to her. Happy Friday, all!
