The weather this week has been absolutely delightful – cooler than usual August days and perfect sleeping weather at night. Normally the A/C is running at full arctic blast but not this year. With the boys preparing to go back to school and September on our doorstep, it’s time for a lesson in layering brought to you by Vogue Living Australia and interior designer Pamela Makin. The client, a mother who lives with her three sons, wanted to refresh her Balmoral, Sydney home with a neutral palette and a mix of traditional and modern elements so she called on Pamela and her firm, Les Interieurs, for help.
We can just imagine the boys relaxing on the comfy couch wrapped up in the faux fur throw, their feet on the Corinthian-style coffee table…
and guests lounging in the “winter” living room in front of this 19th-century French mirror.
The dining room with its weathered oak dining table lit by Bocci pendant lights is perfect for family gatherings…
while the master bedroom is the epitome of calm repose.
And last but not least, the pool where layers of lush greenery provide some privacy and create a natural backdrop for the custom outdoor daybed by Les Interieurs. Though we’re heading into fall, the Aussies are heading into spring so this gorgeous outdoor space will soon be getting lots of use!

What a wonderful home – chic and sophisticated. Love the mirror, beautiful and so unusual. Wishing you ladies a wonderful weekend!!
Such a gorgeous home. Lovely and not overdone. That pool would be the spot I would love to spend an hour or two. Glad you’ve been enjoying a lovely last few weeks of summer – we’ve left our 90 degree and humid days behind, too, which is a relief.
Happy Weekend! XO
