Thursday Thank You

Gourmet circa 2004

… to one of our cooking idols, Ruth Reichl, who along with her then staff at Gourmet Magazine, sifted through 50,000 recipes to come up with a collection of 1,200 which we refer to as the “yellow Bible.”  One of us (Cynthia) would not be the culinary goddess that she is at Thanksgiving (and throughout the year!) without it.

Green Beans and Roasted Squash

The recipes for Green Beans and Roasted Squash with Sherry Soy Butter and the Sausage Fennel Stuffing have become holiday staples at her house and these dishes never disappoint…  So much so, there are never any leftovers!

Sausage Fennel Stuffing

Do you have a “go to” cookbook or kitchen Bible?

Looks delicious! I think I need to add that to my cook book shelf! My go-tos are usually the Barefoot Contessa cookbooks — I’ve never had a Barefoot recipe fail on me yet!

Yum, now I am hungry!! I use the internet a lot now! My Mom on the other hand has a collection of every kind of cookbook imaginable, she reads them like a novel, dreaming of all the dishes she could make, but never does, hehe. She is a wonderful cook so she really enjoys the whole process!!
    Merry Christmas ♥

I really love Ina Garten’s cookbooks – her recipes always turn out beautifully. These sound amazing though – think I’m going to have to check them out!
