Hurricane Sandy blew in this week leaving a path of destruction up and down the East Coast and we’re on Day 5 of no power (which also means no phone, no Internet, no heat and no water!) But, thankfully, our families are fine and while it does take some time and patience to get around (and we’re going a bit stir crazy with the boys out of school!), we’re faring better than many.
Given that many events (including Halloween!) have been rescheduled for next week, you might be looking for something to do to break up the monotony of checking the electric company’s website to see when power will be restored. Rooms With A View in at the Southport Congregational Church is still on and the twelve designer vignettes are sure to take your mind off of the past week.
We’re looking forward to seeing what the designers (the likes of Allison Caccoma and Bachman Brown) did for this year’s theme, “Design on a Shoestring.” We know blogging gal pal, Lisa Ehrlich’s room will be fabulous, as will Paola Salinas’ from Style Never Sleeps.
Perhaps we’ll even get a chance to meet Thom Filicia, the honorary chairman, who used our fiddle fig tree in his vignette two years ago!
So if you need something fun to pass the time, you know where to find us… For more information about the event, click here!
P.S. We hope to be back and blogging next week as power comes back to our neck of the woods. In the meantime, we hope you all are safe and sound!

Hi ladies, So glad to know you are safe and came through everything OK. I’ve been thinking of you and hope that things get back to “normal” and that you power up soon. Take very good care!! XO

I have been thinking of you so glad to hear – although inconvenienced – that everyone is safe and sound. I was so caught up in our own Halloween festivities I didn’t hear that even that was pushed out but of course that makes sense. Wow, so glad to hear you’re both ok. This show looks amazing!
Glad to hear y’all are safe! Sorry that you have no power, but hopefully soon. Look forward to seeing the tour virtually!! Have a great weekend!

So pleased to hear you are all safe and sound. Dreadful mess this, and must be a nightmare without power for so long. Our thoughts are with those who have lost and suffered greatly. x
I’m happy to hear that you ladies are well. I’ve been watching the news and praying, seeing such devastation is incredibly sad…sometimes life is just not fair. Cx
Great post! I was thrilled to have designed a space for this year’s event, but disappointed to have missed the opportunity to be there each day. I look forward to catching up with you about the day to day festivities. I hope the show was wonderful for your fab company! xo, Lisa
Hi Carolyn & Cynthia, great post! It was so good to see you again even if only for a little bit! I wish we had had more time to chat at the show but I guess we were both maning our stations! I hope the in the next show house I do I will have more surface or floor space so I can incorporate one of your beautiful arrangements. I hope to run into you again soon! All the best, Paola
