Now that Sandy has passed and the 9″ of snow has melted, we can finally turn our attention to the holidays and with Thanksgiving just a week away, it’s none too soon! Given that this holiday really centers around food and therefore, the table, we like to go all out… Thankfully, we’ve got the flowers covered and we’re thinking of a plum and silver theme to coordinate with our Wine Country Bouquet.

A Pretty Picnic!

… to the Greenwich Chapter of the American Red Cross for inviting us to be a Tabletop Designer for their annual Red & White Ball (sponsored by our fabulous friends at Cottages & Gardens no less!) which was held last Saturday. This year’s theme, “Help is Here”, is a constant reminder of how much a role this invaluable organization plays in providing relief to victims of disasters – whether an earthquake in China, a tsunami in Japan or tornadoes in Tennessee. We were honored to be part of this glamorous evening and had a ball designing our “picnic under the cherry tree!”

Not only does Joe cover the important aspects of table settings, invitations, party favors and flowers, but he shares a few short-cuts (grocery store blooms – oh my!) and quick fixes (pre-printed invitations – gasp!) to create a memorable event.

Joe believes that as a host, it’s easy to forget that “thoughtful” and “lovely” aren’t the same as “perfect” – so get out your water pitchers for your bouquets and serve your soup out of coffee cups… but be careful never to equate casual with sloppy.
