For all of you who aren’t tired of the Liberty of London “Renaissance”, Julian Mejia has designed pretty cotton-and-linen pillows using classic Liberty prints – and you don’t even have to cross the pond since these are available at Barneys New York!

In February last year, the iconic Liberty store was relaunched after an extensive makeover from the ground floor up.  Year-long events culminated in “Prints Charming”, an exhibition celebrating the timeless appeal and versatility of the Liberty print.  So versatile is the classic Betsy fabric that it covered the store’s Carnaby Street brick facade top to bottom in August.

As part of the renaissance, Liberty commissioned a number of artists and vendors to create one-off pieces including mirrors, chandeliers and furniture.  While Liberty die-hards can still shop for rolls of William Morris fabric and “matronly” floral blouses, new high-end designers including Balmain, Marni and Fendi have been added to the mix.  Even Hermes opened a “pop-up” boutique in the store last fall to sell Liberty-inspired scarves and ties, proving that the French and the English can get along for fashion’s sake…
