Gorgeous in Green
May seems to be a month for many gatherings – the Kentucky Derby, Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day and no less than six birthdays. So we’re brushing off the china, crystal and silver and coming up with creative ways to set the table (yet again!)
Thankfully, Barney’s new lookbook, Table Mates, pairs beautiful table settings with baubles, jewels and gems – everyone knows bit of bling is just the thing that makes a party memorable! The best part is that there’s something for everyone in these pages, from a stylish black and white look (very Rachel Zoe) to a modern rustic mix perfect for a chic country home.

As far as we know, there’s no rule against matching your jewelry to your plates so we’ll give it a spin the next time we entertain!

With a heat wave hitting the New York area this week (and fall a month away!), we stayed cool visiting the home floor at Barneys and taking in a matinee of Julie & Julia.

We fell in love with this woodland vignette, a farm house table set with Anna Weatherley “Forest Mushrooms” plates, Michael Aram “Twigware”, Kim Seybert bubble glasses and place mats and wonderful art glass mushrooms.

Inspired by this table setting and Julia Child, we thought it would be fun to add one of our favorite mushroom recipes, Champignons Sautes au Beurre, from Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Perfect on grilled chicken and steak, or as a vegetable side, sauteed mushrooms are perfect year-round…
