A Plethora of Pinecones
As you can tell from our Monday Mood, we’re still thinking about how to decorate our home this holiday season. While the kids are clamoring for something fun and festive (i.e. big colorful lights, tinsel and a snow globe on the lawn!), we’re somehow feeling more cozy and rustic. Eddie Ross‘ and Mary McDonald‘s take on the not-so-homey pinecone had us thinking about these backyard beauties. From the front door…

pinecones are pretty. Just another thought… Are you done decorating?

DONE decorating?! Surely you jest! But I do love pine cones – used in all sorts of ways as you have shown. I also love them sprayed gold and silver tucked in to more natural arrangements. That last shot has me thinking – I’ll bet they’d look great with feathers too!
Love the swags – amazing! And of course, our favorite friend Eddie’s work. xx
Big fan of the humble pine cone….lends a rustic chic touch to decor. We have a bowl of gold pine cones in Vermont…a glammed up version of Mother Nature’s accessories!
I can’t seem to finish. I stop. I start. Maybe by the time my next set of house guests arrives! 🙂 Love all those pine cone images. It’s such an inexpensive item to incorporate….I have some gold glittered ones here and there! Stay warm today!!

Those pine cones are indeed very pretty!! We’re almost done decorating, just a few touches here and there. The goal this year is a bit of a highland holiday, lots of tartan. We’re not traveling for the holidays this year (for once) so I am decorating much more than I usually do!
Diane these are great, I love them all. I used a few pinecones this year on my front porch. I bought some cinnamon scented pinecones and with the pine it smells pretty delish when the sun warms them up.
Thanks for coming by today. I love the ginger bread houses. I think some made out of sugar cookies and sprinkled with sparkly sugar would be fun for adults and a cup of coffee or tea. I am going to make those for sure!!! Love that idea the most.
I so appreciate your continued reading and always leaving such nice comments on my blog. Merry Christmas to YOU and YOURS!! KATHYSUE
I am so in love with that first image! I love the big pine cones and the twigs tied with them…how festive, fun and chic! The roping with pine cones is gorgeous…love the entire look.
I love all of the pine cone inspiration…I just might have to run out and start collecting. My kids love to pour glitter all over them (me not so much, pinecones + glittter = huge mess)
During our last ski trip to Tahoe in April, I picked up quite a few giant cones in the parking lot of our hotel. Arrrgh, Fall 2010 then ran away from me and I’m not quite sure they fit with my Christmas peacocks theme.
But the cones are coming out in 2011, for sure!
