Pastoral and Pretty

@nicamille

Needless to say, we LOVE Deborah Needleman and even more so after reading her story on the emerging trend for wilder floral arrangements in T Magazine this past weekend.  We’ve been embracing the Constance Spry style of using branches, berries and all manner of woodland flora for years in our bouquets so we’re happy to hear that fresh flowers are heading that way as well.

This pretty and pastoral movement lead by the likes of Erin Benzakein of Floret Farm and Sarah Ryhanen of Saipua has inspired any number of millenials to quit their day jobs and take up flower farming.  While we’re not there yet (ahem, black thumbs!), we do feel a certain kinship with these adventurous women and want to be token members of their floral sisterhood.

Let’s hope this trend gains momentum as we’d really love to see the mass production of insecticide-laden flowers be replaced by more planet-friendly farm to table versions.

Happy Friday to all and may your weekend be full of blooms!
