As you might know from previous posts, we’re huge fans of the regional magazines published by Cottages & Gardens, and Hamptons Cottages & Gardens is no exception.  Editor-in-Chief Kendell Cronstrom (formerly of Real Simple where he featured our designs!) not only offers a wonderful mix of local interiors, gardens and parties, but a wide range of columns including “Trade Secrets” and “Made in the Hamptons.”

A brand new addition to the magazine is one of our favorite features, “Flower Power”, where Kendell pairs seasonal flowers and unique vases for floral fabulousness.

When we asked Kendell what inspired him to start this column and how he chooses the flowers and containers, here’s what he had to say:

July 1st Flower Power - Roses

July 1st Flower Power - Roses

“Everyone loves flowers, but people often feel uncomfortable when it comes to arranging them.  How many times have you seen a bunch of flowers crudely stuffed into a vase?  I started this page because I wanted to show how easy it is to create a beautiful arrangement in just a few simple steps.”

July 15th Flower Power - Alliums

“I chose the flowers based more or less on when they look their best during the Hamptons summer season, so I started with peonies (early June) and have been working my way toward late-summer blooms as the issues have progressed.  Each page also provides advice on which containers to use, depending on the size and shape of the flower.”

So a big thank you to Kendell for helping us turn “real simple” blossoms into gorgeous bouquets – all you need is a little “Flower Power” this summer!

Oh, this post really speaks to me!!! Flower Power – love it! So smart to use vases that aren’t clear – makes you look like a professional stylist off the bat.

Flowers do radiate a certain power, especially when they are part of one’s home or hostess gift.
Love his name- it has an allure! I love saying it with a british accent.

I miss my California Agapantha, I need to figure out how to get it sent to me in NC! I was trying to do an all blue container garden. It needs to evolve, though…..next year.
