Large Spring Bouquet
… to Beth Dempsey at Images & Details for inviting us to showcase some of our new Spring/Summer 2012 bouquets at the first To The Trade Market Day hosted by New England Home’s Connecticut magazine and the Wakefield Design Center in Stamford.
Hydrangea and Orchid Bouquet
Not only did we get to see a presentation of Martyn Lawrence-Bullard’s new fabric collection for Schumacher (you know how much we love him!) and hear Kyle Hoepner, the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, speak about getting published, but we were wined and dined by The Restaurant at Rowayton Seafood and caught up with fellow designers and bloggers – what a treat!
Phalaenopsis Orchids in Glass Vase
A great afternoon spent in a beautiful showroom surrounded by fabulous fabrics, amazing art and fantastic furniture… We do hope this event is an annual one!

Going to the Chapel
This weekend in 1991, we were all abuzz with wedding preparations, making round trips to the French countryside from Paris on a weekly basis to make sure everything for a fairy-tale reception was ready…

An Invitation to a Party
Last night, we had the honor of joining Governor and Mrs. Malloy for the private unveiling of The People’s Project, a.k.a. the renovation and refurbishment of the Governor’s residence in Hartford, Connecticut. To celebrate the house’s 100th anniversary, a non-for-profit organization has been working to give it the ultimate birthday present in the form of some “cosmetic” surgery – not a major overhaul but some interior plumping and primping which was sorely needed.
Paula Perlini - Martha's Vineyard
Who best to gather a group of talented local designers to help with the subtle “touch-ups” but our friends at Connecticut Cottages & Gardens.
Catherine Cleare - Sasco Hill Bedroom
Catherine Cleare - Sasco Hill Dining Room
Sadly, we were told to leave our cameras at home since the entire November issue is dedicated to the project but we can tell you which designers finished their room with our flowers… Paula Perlini, Sandra Morgan and Catherine Cleare!

Former Bug-Phobic Christopher Marley
… to Christopher Marley for turning bugs (and other exotic and unusual bits) into beautiful works of art. A childhood aversion to insects became an appreciation of their unique hues, shapes and textures and now, Chris creates one-of-a-kind masterpieces that awe and amaze anyone who happens to see them. If you haven’t met this incredible artist in person (he does have a sensational booth at the New York Gift Show!), you’ll have a chance to do so at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York next Thursday, August 18th, from 3 to 6 p.m. We’ll be there with bugs bells on!
P.S. For more information or to buy online, please visit Chris’ site, The Pheromone Gallery.

While we don’t tend to think too much about our own holiday decorating until right after Thanksgiving (that’s because we’re so busy with everyone else’s floral needs!), we did get into the holiday spirit early this year with an event at Nielsen’s Florist in Darien sponsored by our great friends at Connecticut Cottages & Gardens.
The James Girls Ringing in The Holidays
Along with Simon Pearce and Home James!, we created beautiful tables in the greenhouse for every setting, from glamorous to garden, city to country…
and proceeds from a fabulous raffle benefited A Better Chance, which provides academic scholarships and housing in Darien to six highly motivated minority high school girls from inner city areas.
Lovely Ladies from ABC
A great time was had by all, feasting on delicious tidbits and toasting with Nicolas Feuillate Brut Rose – and the beautifully styled Christmas trees added the perfect festive touch. None of this would have been possible without the amazing staff at Nielsen’s and the support of wonderful friends – what a stylish way to start the holidays!
Ed and Annmarie from Simon Pearce
P.S. For more pictures of the event, visit our new blogging friend, the lovely Stacey, at Quintessence!

Carolyn and Charles Faudree
Saying that we’re huge fans of the charming and delightful Charles Faudree would be quite the understatement – we have all his books, love his French Country style and share his belief that flowers are the single most important decorating accessory. So when Mr. Faudree came to town last week for a book signing at Pierre Deux in Westport, we were there with bells on and floral gift in hand!

An English Tea Box Holds a Bright Bouquet
Once our copy of Country French Florals & Interiors had been signed (for our mother, of course!) “May your home be filled with joy, much happiness and a few flowers. Enjoy the good life!”, we stayed and chatted about Mr. Faudree’s love of flowers (as a child he helped his grandmother with her cutting garden), his long-time friendship with David Easton (we can’t divulge the antics and pranks these two played on each other!) and his fabulous interior design business and store in Tulsa, Oklahoma (which we hope to visit the next time we head west.)
Fabulous Fabrics for Vervain
A Jamaican Home, Charles Faudree Style!
Needless to say, a wonderful morning spent with a lovely person in a pretty store – who wouldn’t be tickled to be in the presence of such talent?

Last Tuesday we were honored to attend the Luncheon for a Cure sponsored by CT Cottages & Gardens and Valerie Wilson Travel benefiting the Connecticut affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Having been touched by this disease in many different ways, we wanted to remember friends and family with some of our favorite pink pieces…

We’re back from a lovely evening at the Stamford Hilton where we mixed and mingled with divine designers under the boughs of Japanese maples in beautiful architectural planters. One of the many highlights of the evening was meeting the fabulous Jamie Drake (he even complimented us on choosing the perfect bouquets to coordinate with his Schumacher table runners – swoon!) and seeing the gorgeous work of all the nominees. While Connecticut Cottages & Gardens will be publishing party pictures very soon, we didn’t want to keep you waiting – so here are the 2010 IDA winners!
