Blues Clues

Cozy Cottage Porch

Cozy Cottage Porch

The winter snow and spring rains left us with a very leaky roof and a front porch floor all warped and worn… so what’s a homeowner to do?  Get a new roof and redo the porch, of course!  Choosing a grey slate floor was the easy part and with the walls painted Benjamin Moore White Chocolate, we’ve been considering painting the ceiling blue.

But what blue to use?  We took a queue from one of our boys’ favorite childhood shows and sat down in our thinking chair to think… think… thi-i-ink!

With help from online friends (the girls from Design Chic, House of Turquoise and Get Your Martha On), we followed some blues clues and fell upon this beautiful blue home by Linda Banks.

Several emails and five paint swatches later, we’re down to two:

Benjamin Moore - Bright and Early

Stay tuned for the big reveal coming later this year…  ’cause when we use our minds and take one step at a time, we can do anything…  that we wanna do!

Oh how fabulous!! Love all the rooms you showed. I personally love the Constellation – it’s a little “dirtier” with a touch more green – my favorite kind of mix!! Can’t wait to see more!! Wishing you a wonderful weekend!! And Blue’s Clues was a favorite here as well – now I’ll have that song stuck in my head!!

Can’t wait to see the reveal! Our bedroom ceiling is painted a blue similar to the Constellation hue – the room just glows when the sun comes in!

I have a blue ceiling in my guest room. One thing I always tell my clients is to hold the swatch over your head because you will get a natural shadowing affect. The color will go grayer and a shade or so darker, so keep that in mind. I went with the palest blue ever and I have french vanilla walls with white trim,it is soooo peaceful and restful you are going to love it!! Kathysue
