It’s President’s Day – what mood are you in?

Stately Setting

Presidential

Befitting a president…  And Michael Smith’s interiors certainly are, aren’t they? Wonder if they’ll ever print what he did at the White House?

Wishing you a great President’s Day!

Flower Girls

February 15th, 2013

The Divine Drew

We have a confession to make…  We don’t really shop at Walmart.  But having read this interview with Drew Barrymore in Harper’s Bazaar and learning more about her new make-up line, we have to say we’re tempted.  This child star (who literally grew up in a make-up chair) and former Cover Girl model has teamed up with cosmetics powerhouse Maesa to create an expansive (180 products) and inexpensive (all under $15) collection called Flower sold exclusively at Walmart.

Flower Pow(d)er

Flower’s products are made in the USA with the same ingredients as luxury make-up.  Best of all, they include a proprietary botanical blend (Soft-Focus complex) that gives you that “lit from within” glow.  So how can these products be so budget-worthy?  No advertising – Drew is the company’s spokesperson and that’s all they need!  Her fresh, modern style is one we can definitely trust.

Shine On Lip Gloss

Nail’d It Nail Lacquer

While we subscribe to Drew’s philosophy that “happiness is what makes you pretty,” our mother (who never leaves home without lipstick) is always telling us to wear a bit more makeup so we may be investing in some Flower lip gloss, eye shadow sticks and nail polish this spring…

After all, this little flower girl grew up to be a beautiful woman so perhaps she knows a thing or two about beauty products!

Will You “Bee” Our Valentine?

February 8th, 2013

Bee-smooched

With less than a week to go, Valentine’s Day is getting it’s fair share of attention and while we’re not ones to go all out in celebrating this holiday (read last year’s post here), we admire those who do.  That’s why we’ve been busy as bees gathering some bee-fitting things that might make your day more bee-dazzling…  From writing your love a letter,

Bee-prose

to keeping your lips kissably soft…

Bee-glossed

and treating yourself to a long bath…

Bee-showered

before a candlelit dinner…

Fashionable Find: Pim + Larkin

February 1st, 2013

Terrific Tattered Tweed Jacket

It’s already February so it’s not too soon to think about your spring and summer wardrobe…  Although who knows when spring will come this year since our erratic weather has given us temperatures ranging from 10 to 55 degrees in the past week!  We’re already sprucing up our outfits with some great buys on Piperlime and are absolutely loving the fresh, young vibe of Pim + Larkin (we’re not the only ones since Rachel Zoe and Olivia Palermo include some of their pieces in their Editor’s Picks.)

Fab Flower Necklace

While we’ve already worn the tattered tweed jacket a number of times (adding the flower bauble necklace as a pop of color), we’ll have to wait for warmer weather to wear this pretty peplum top

Pretty Printed Peplum

and lace and chiffon dress.

Lovely Lace

And we can’t wait for even warmer summer days to break out this colorblock maxi dress on the beach…

Marvelous Maxi

paired with this fly bee bangle!

Bee or Fly Bangle?

Don’t you just love finding new brands to brandish?!  Do you have a favorite new find you’d like to share?  Wishing you a fun and fashionable weekend.

Country Couture

January 25th, 2013

Pretty Purples in Lantern Vase

Who says country and couture can’t come together to create a floral collection that is on the one hand elegant and pretty yet on the other, relaxed and comfortable?  This sense of approachable luxury is what we tried to capture in our new Spring/Summer 2013 collection, where rustic vases like antiqued lanterns or hobnail glass jars are paired with luscious hydrangea and peonies.

Blossoming Bedding

Dahlias, Ranunculus and Roses

The present trend toward a more casual lifestyle allows us to design looser compositions to mirror what you would do with your own garden cuttings, effortless bouquets that can finish any room of the house.  Sprigs of deep purple clematis, vibrant pink geranium and pale green apple blossoms add a whimsical country touch.

Garden Glam

Pops of PInk

And our lovely orchids, whether they are oncidium or phalaenopsis, are always “planted” in naturally mossed hand-thrown terra cotta pots for that fresh from the nursery touch.

Pink Patterned Phalaenopsis

We’re heading into the city on this frigid day to finish our booth at Pier 94 and counting the days until spring!  Will you be walking the New York Gift Show this year?

P.S.  Since we’re stuck selling at the show, we’ll be back next Friday so please stay tuned!

Emerald vs. Monaco Blue

January 23rd, 2013

Elie Saab’s Blue Blossoms

Before Pantone could announce that Emerald had indeed been chosen as the 2013 Color of the Year, there were whispers that Monaco Blue was about to steal the show.  Perhaps because this color, which “falls between bright cobalt and sapphire blue but with a shot of sparkle,” topped the list of Pantone’s Spring Fashion Color Trends and we saw so much of it down the runway last fall.  Blogs were abuzz about the proposed choice – some loved the regal nature of the color and its versatility (especially after a year of Tangerine Tango) while others found the choice quite boring.

Blue Hues

Blue Bauble

Then December 6th came and went, and we all celebrated the lively, radiant, lush color that is Emerald… “A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony,” according to Pantone and the blogs were abuzz again.

Valentino’s Emerald Elegance

It would make sense that the world-renown authority on color would follow a year filled with energetic orange with a color that symbolizes new life in many cultures.  Given it’s natural hue, we love this choice.  But then again, we love blue hues, too, so we’ll be adding a bit of both to our lives this year.

Great Greens

How about you – will you be true blue or going green this year?
