Dust off your bicycle, tricycle (or dare we say?) unicycle and get pedaling… it’s Bike to Work Week!

‘Tis the season for decorator show houses and for those of you who can’t get into the city for the Kips Bayextravaganza, there’s a wonderful one in Bedford Hills, NY, benefiting Cerebral Palsy of Westchester. Nirvana, a magnificent 17-acre estate, has everything you would want and more – five bedrooms, six and a half baths, a 1,700 bottle wine cellar and even a tree house with thatched roof and flat screen TV.
And the best part… all the talented decorators who have transformed each room into a showpiece (including yours truly who created a flower room fit for Constance Spry!)
Since we didn’t want to steal the spotlight from the number of magazines and blogs who will be covering the house in the coming weeks, we thought we’d just share pictures of our room and entice those of you nearby to take the grand tour.
And if these pictures aren’t enough, you might find something fabulous at Deluxe, the fabulous boutique on the lower level featuring a collection of vintage couture jewelry (Valentino, YSL and Chanel – big sigh!), home accessories and furniture… we know we did!

… to James Doyle for designing heavenly havens and gorgeous gardens. His award-winning landscapes can be found all over the world, from a chateau in the Loire Valley to a family home in the Middle East. We love his approach to design which takes into account the characteristics of the home into the context of its gardens, creating harmony in the environment.
Three sunny days in a row and counting… We haven’t had a streak like this since the first week of February and spring fever has set in! We’re buzzing around and humming all the sunny songs we know: Here Comes The Sun, It’s A Sunshine Day, Walking on Sunshine and of course, one of our favorites, Sunshine…
Here’s hoping the sun is shining wherever you may be!
Two little bees had a birthday this week and received this adorable card in the mail. Having never heard of Meri Meri, we had to do some sleuthing!
An award-winning paper design company based in San Francisco and The Cotswolds, England, Meri Meri is a wonderful source of cards, invitations, party decorations, gift bags and journals.
Who knew that when Meredithe (who’s childhood nickname was Meri Meri) sat at her kitchen table 25 years ago with paper, pens, and a big pot of glitter that her whimsical creations would end up on the shelves of Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus…
And in a piece shot by ABC for the royal wedding (the Middleton’s party planning company is a client!)
Meri Meri knows how to make people happy happy when it comes to celebrations – we know our day was little bit brighter because of them. Hope your weekend is happy happy!
P.S. Remember, Mother’s Day is Sunday!

… to the Greenwich Chapter of the American Red Cross for inviting us to be a Tabletop Designer for their annual Red & White Ball (sponsored by our fabulous friends at Cottages & Gardens no less!) which was held last Saturday. This year’s theme, “Help is Here”, is a constant reminder of how much a role this invaluable organization plays in providing relief to victims of disasters – whether an earthquake in China, a tsunami in Japan or tornadoes in Tennessee. We were honored to be part of this glamorous evening and had a ball designing our “picnic under the cherry tree!”

It’s no surprise that we’ve been looking forward to today… ever since it was announced this winter that the Met would be celebrating the late Alexander McQueen‘s iconic contributions to fashion, we’ve been counting the days.
Rumor has it that a hundred of McQueen’s designs are artfully displayed including some signature pieces like the dresses he created with extreme silhouettes or the paired-down minimalist sheaths made of feathers or razor clam shells.
What a treat to be able to gaze upon these creations and be reminded of McQueen’s ability to deliver the unexpected, season after season. Even Sarah Burton, who worked alongside this artist and became a household name last Friday, was reminded of his passion and inspiration when she previewed the exhibit on Monday. We’re sure to be blown away!
Who knows… perhaps one day Kate’s dress will make an appearance!
