Dolce & Gabbana – Flowers and Cherubs

We’re off on our semi-annual shopping trip today to add some fall fashion to our wardrobes and we might just buy something a bit baroque this time.  While we absolutely love the opulence of Dolce & Gabbana’s new “Barocco” collection, we think it might be a bit much for the office.  Perhaps we’ll stick to baroque accessories instead…

Salvatore Ferragamo – Ribbon and Flower Necklace

Bulgari – Fall 2012 Scarf

Prada – Baroque Sunglasses

Carven – Baroque Booties

Versace – Baroque Bag

Happy fashionable Friday!

Wildlife Wonders: Fox and Owl

Foxy Family

It’s a jungle out there!  Well, not quite…  but it seems that the cooler days of fall bring out the wildlife around here.  The other day, we spotted a fox, a raccoon and a rafter of wild turkey, all on our way to work.  And the wild things aren’t just in our yards – they’re in the stores, too!

Woodland creatures are on trend these days and the fox and the owl are taking center stage.  Even Burberry and Tory Burch couldn’t resist their charm!

Some Dining Room!

Terrific

Pronunciation: /təˈrifik/

Extremely good; excellent

P.S.  We thought this word would better than “some pig” which, along with “radiant” and “humble”, is another one of Charlotte’s praises for Wilbur.  Did you know that Charlotte’s Web turns 60 this month?

Pump(kin) It Up!

Pumpkin Placesettings

The weekend’s finally here and that means it’s pumpkin decorating time!  But there’s an ongoing debate as to whether we’re going to carve them this year or do something creative with glue, paint and glitter.

Etched Pumpkins

If we had our way, we’d keep it simple – carve them out and use them as a vase for flowers, or use paint pens (much neater than paint brushes!) and go wild.

Regardless, we’ll be inspired by all the pretty pumpkins that are being pinned these days…

How about you, are you a traditional carver or do you do your own thing?

The Velvet Touch

Friday, October 12th, 2012

Christina Murphy – Velvet Day Bed

Growing up in the seventies in Belgium, velvet was a staple in our wardrobe and in our home.  From the little black velvet dresses with white lace collars and red sashes we wore every holiday season to the velvet covered sofas, daybeds and chairs that filled our country chateau, we’ve long admired a velvet touch.

Bottega Veneta – Floral Velvet for Fall 2012

Pierre Hardy – Velvet & Suede

Anthropologie – Ryan Bedding

Judging by what we’re seeing in home decor and on the runway, either velvet never really went out of style, or it’s making a comeback.  It’s the perfect accessory for the fall and we just love the cozy softness it brings to an outfit or home when the days get colder, especially in these autumnal hues!

A Pear Affair

Perfect Pears

There’s nothing sweeter or more enjoyable than biting into a perfectly ripe, juicy pear – their lusciousness has us wanting them on our menus all year long.  But they’re not so we make the most of them these days.  Whether served as an appetizer with blue or goat cheese

or as dessert poached…

or in our favorite tart, these delicious delights will be gracing our table this month.

Are you a big fan of pears and if so, how do you pair them?
